In 1918, the Brits sent a crackerjack force consisting of a few troopers, some White Russian Cossack allies, and a couple of armored cars under one Maj. Gen. Lionel Dunsterville from their fighting against the Ottoman Turks in Mesopotamia into northern Persia (now Iran) and the Caucasus. Their goal was to meld the various anti-Bolshevik and anti-Turkish groups there into some sort of actual military unit. This is their story…
